CSPD students recognised in Refugee Week Creative Competition

Over 125 students from 10 Catholic Schools Parramatta Diocese (CSPD) schools have been recognised for their empathy and powerful storytelling as part of the Jesuit Refugee Service (JRS) Australia Refugee Week Creative Competition.

🎉 100 Days Brighter! 💛 What a wonderful day celebrating 100 Days of Kindergarten! Our Kindergarten students proudly hosted a special assembly before taking to the stage for a fantastic parade in their creative "100-year-old" costumes. There were plenty of smiles and laughter as they showed off their amazing outfits! Families then joined us in the classrooms for a range of fun 100 Days activities, celebrating just how much our youngest learners have grown over their first 100 days of school. To top it all off, our wonderful Year 6 buddies joined Kindergarten to decorate biscuits with hundreds and thousands, sharing lots of laughs and creating sweet memories together. Congratulations to our incredible Kindergarten students on reaching this exciting milestone. We are so proud of everything you have achieved in your first 100 days of learning, growing and making new friendships. Here's to many more exciting adventures ahead! 🌟💙

This week, our Year 12 students headed to the Western Sydney Careers Expo, to learn more about the different post-school pathways available. One of the highlights for us was running into a former student, who always had her sights set on a career in aviation. Today, she's working towards that dream as an Airport Operations Control Centre Trainee at the new Western Sydney International Airport and was representing them at the Expo. It's a great reminder that every conversation, every opportunity and every step can lead somewhere amazing. We can't wait to see where our current Year 12 students will be standing a few years from now.

💚💛 Green and Gold Hour! 💚💛 Today our school community came together to celebrate the excitement of the World Cup with our very own Green and Gold Hour! Students proudly showed their support by wearing green and gold and taking part in activities that celebrated much more than sport. The hour was all about belonging, inclusion, respect, teamwork and positive support — values that help bring our community together. Throughout the session, students enjoyed poster-making, discussions about respectful crowd behaviour and the chance to share in the excitement of the big game. Some students also connected with the inspiring Australian film Paper Planes, reflecting on perseverance, identity and giving your personal best. It was wonderful to see so much energy, pride and positivity across the school. A big thank you to our students, staff and student leaders for helping make Green and Gold Hour such a memorable experience. 🌍⚽ World Cup excitement is in the air! ⚽🌍 Today, our House Leaders did a fantastic job organising a World Cup Trivia competition at recess as we build excitement for the big game tomorrow. Students had a great time testing their World Cup knowledge, earning house points and getting into the spirit of the tournament. The winning students, house points and prizes were proudly announced at lunch. Congratulations to all of our trivia winners, and a special congratulations to Teresa House for finishing as the house with the most points! 🏆 A big thank you to our House Leaders for bringing energy, fun and school spirit to the day. With Term 2 finishing up next week, we wanted to share some of the opportunities, achievements and experiences our students have embraced through Career and Pathways this term. 13 students graduated from the Academy U and ACU Step Up programs, experiencing university-level study in Nursing, Criminology and Leadership in Complexity. One Year 12 student completed a first-year Law subject through the University of Southern Queensland. Another was selected for the ANSTO Lightworks: Synchrotron Science in Motion program. One Year 11 student secured a place in ACU’s Step Up Into Teaching program, while our Academy U participants took part in on-campus workshops at Western Sydney University. Three students from Years 10 and 11 completed the TAFE YES Program in Community Services and Early Childhood Education. Future pathways were also explored through the CathWest presentation, the Careers Expo, and a lunchtime game of Career Scattergories. During the upcoming holidays, several students will undertake work experience in areas including Law, Dentistry, Real Estate, Occupational Therapy and Speech Pathology. We are proud of each and every one of them for stepping outside their comfort zones, embracing opportunities and taking meaningful steps towards their futures. Congratulations to our SOL Leaders on their publication of an article in the Australian Journal of Middle Schooling, "Lighting Up Young Minds: The Distinctive Opportunity of the Middle Years for High Potential and Gifted Learners in a Middle School". Project Nova and The Thriving Learners’ programs facilitated the opportunity to extend and challenge our learners to unlock their potential. Special congratulations to Mrs Kelly, Mrs McAllister, and Mrs Chand for their leadership of these initiatives.
