The 2026 Premier’s Reading Challenge has began. It runs from Monday 23rd February until Friday 18th September. The Challenge aims to encourage a love of reading for leisure and pleasure in students, and to enable them to experience quality literature. It is not a competition but a challenge to each student to read, to read more and to read more widely. The Premier's Reading Challenge (PRC) is open to all NSW students in Kindergarten to Year 10. This week families and students received information and login details for the challenge via email. We have PRC books clearly marked in our library that students can borrow to read and complete the challenge. Happy reading.

Dear Parents and Carers Join CSPD’s new Family Partnership Council (FPC) for its very first parent event, Raising Resilient Kids in a Fast-Paced World. We are delighted to welcome Gen Muir, author, parent educator and mum of four boys, for a practical and relatable session on helping children build emotional strength and confidence in today’s busy and often overwhelming world. In this engaging session, Gen will share simple and practical ways parents can support: 📚frustration tolerance and emotional wellbeing 📚confidence and resilience through everyday parenting moments 📚children navigating big emotions, sibling conflict and friendship struggles 📚healthy responses to the challenges of screens and modern life. Parents will leave with practical strategies they can start using straight away to help their children manage life’s ups and downs as they grow. This event is also a great opportunity to connect with other parents and learn more about the work of the Family Partnership Council (FPC) and how it supports families across CSPD. Each March, families across Australia hear a lot about NAPLAN. The National Assessment Program Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN) assesses students in Years 3, 5, 7 and 9 in reading, writing, spelling, grammar and numeracy. But what does it really mean for your child in 2026?

Year 10 Wellbeing Day 🧠💛 Last week our Year 10 students took part in a Wellbeing Day focused on the state of the mind and practical strategies to strengthen it. Students explored how the brain functions, and unpacked the difference between fixed and growth mindsets — learning how small shifts in thinking can make a big difference in learning, resilience, and confidence. We were also grateful to welcome our Police Liaison Officer, who led an important session on responsible relationships, and the Black Dog Institute, who spoke with students about mental fitness and looking after wellbeing proactively. To finish the day, students heard from Daniel Merza, who shared a powerful message about the potential of the mind and how we can use a growth mindset to our advantage. A big thank you to our presenters and staff for supporting this meaningful day — and well done to Year 10 for the way you engaged with maturity and respect. 👏 #Wellbeing #Year10 #GrowthMindset #MentalFitness #StudentWellbeing

What a fantastic lunchtime of House Trivia today. Students proudly represented their houses and worked together in teams to answer 20 questions all about our house patrons: Einstein, MacKillop, Curie, Da Vinci, Teresa and King. It was wonderful to see so much teamwork, enthusiasm, and house spirit on display as students competed to earn the highest score. A big thank you to our House Leaders for putting together such a fun event and helping build school spirit across the school. Results will be announced soon.

This week, some of our students attended the the Girls Engineering the Skies – International Women’s Day Experience Day at Western Sydney International Airport. They explored the new airport terminal, met aviation professionals, and learned about the many careers available in engineering and aviation. Students also took part in an interactive aircraft design challenge and heard from women working across the aviation industry. As part of the behind-the-scenes tour, they even had the rare opportunity to walk out onto the runway. It was a great day that encouraged our students to see the possibilities for their future in STEM and aviation.
