Today, our Project Nova students had an incredible opportunity to tour the Molecular Bioscience Building at the University of Sydney, guided by Dr Constance Bailey, Senior Lecturer of Chemical and Synthetic Biology. Students explored innovative technologies across the labs, delving into real-life research and discussing antibiotics, biotechnology, medicinal chemistry, and bacteria. They also had the chance to chat with PhD students, gaining insights into the world of scientific research. The day wrapped up with a visit to the Sci-Tech Library, where students explored a wealth of scientific resources and discoveries. A big thank you to Dr Bailey and the University of Sydney for inspiring our future scientists!

Both authors ran creative writing workshops with our Year 7 students, sharing insights into their writing process and the journey of bringing stories to life. Our SOL Soccer Tournament wrapped up today with thrilling grand finals at lunchtime! Both the Years 5/6 and Years 7/8 competitions ended in dramatic draws, pushing the matches into tense penalty shootouts. In the end, Spanish Blood FC edged out Joga Bonito (Years 7/8), while Dino Nuggies 338 claimed victory over Random Chilli Dogs (Years 5/6). A huge thank you to our SOE referees for generously volunteering their time to make the tournament a success!

💃 Let's Dance!👯 Students proudly represented St Luke's at the Captivate Dance Eisteddfod yesterday– well done to all our talented participants! Your hard work, dedication, and countless hours of practice truly shone on stage. A special congratulations to the Pasifika Dance Group for placing second and the Bollywood Dance Group for placing third in the Cultural Dance categories. On Friday, August 29, students from K-12 swapped their uniforms for pyjamas to support the Vinnies Winter Sleepout. Together, we helped raise awareness and vital funds for people experiencing homelessness this winter. At St Luke’s, our social justice initiatives are grounded in our Catholic faith and the belief that “God created man in His own image, in the image of God He created him.” - Genesis 1:27. ✨ Tournament of Minds ✨ On Sunday 31st August, St Luke’s students from Years 5-9 competed in the Tournament of Minds at Barker College — an international problem-solving program where students work in teams to develop creative solutions to complex challenges. We are so proud of our students for the effort, teamwork and commitment they showed. In our very first year of the competition our students made their mark and set a strong foundation for the future. They represented St Luke’s beautifully with respect, encouragement and support for one another, which truly reflects the spirit of TOM. A huge thank you to our parents for your support and encouragement — we couldn’t have done it without you! This is only the beginning, and we look forward to coming back stronger every year. 🌟

Dear parents and carers, Thank you for your continued patience and generous support during today’s unexpected school shut down. The decision to send students home was made with their safety in mind, as there was some risk associated with toileting facilities without the appropriate electricity. We are deeply grateful for the understanding and prompt cooperation shown by our parent community. Your willingness to adapt and assist so quickly speaks to the strength and generosity that defines our school community.
