The story behind this year’s ARTICULATE catalogue cover
The cover artwork for this year’s ARTICULATE (Parramatta Diocese’s HSC Visual Arts Showcase) catalogue was created by Yashica Patel, a former St Luke’s Catholic College Marsden Park student. Her featured digital series, titled “Lost in Revelry", beautifully captures the essence of becoming fully absorbed in the creative process.

Next on the list was showing our visiting teacher some of the things that make Sydney so iconic. We couldn't let him leave without experiencing some of the most famous parts of our city- both the sights and wildlife! First, a ferry ride across Sydney Harbour to take in the city’s views, followed by a closer look at the Opera House and a walk through the Royal Botanic Gardens where we spotted a kookaburra enjoying the sunshine. And of course… no visit would be complete without meeting a koala (or two)! A trip to Featherdale Wildlife Park gave JK the chance to get up close with some of Australia’s most famous animals. We even spotted some fairy penguins- technically a native animal of Australia and New Zealand, but still looking slightly out of place! #ASEANBridgeProgram

Day 1- Welcome Assembly 🇵🇭 🇦🇺 We were honoured to host a visiting teacher from the Philippines as part of the ASEAN Bridge Program. This is the first post in a series celebrating a week of cultural exchange, learning, and friendship. On Day One, we welcomed Diana Marie D. Jimenez-Leomo, Vice Consul of the Philippines, and Charmaine Rowena C. Aviquivil, Consul General of the Philippines. Their presence reminded us that this program is all about creating meaningful connections between countries, cultures, and communities. Led by Mr Gutierrez, the eight students involved took full ownership of organising the assembly, showing true leadership and commitment. We sincerely thank the students, their families, and our school community for their support. A special thanks to JK, our visiting teacher, for sharing his knowledge, passion, and culture with us. Finally, we acknowledge Vice Consul Jimenez-Leomo, Consul General Aviquivil, the ASEAN Program organisers, and our principal Mrs Bauer for making this opportunity possible.

Peer Companions Supporting Year 5 Students This term, our Peer Companions Program has flourished by uniting enthusiastic Year 8 leaders with Year 5 students for meaningful sessions every three weeks. The focus has been on developing healthy friendships and understanding what it means to be a good friend. Through discussions and activities, Year 8 leaders have helped younger students build social skills, emphasising kindness, empathy, trust, and respectful communication. We are grateful for our dedicated peer companions, whose preparation and commitment are evident in every session. Their efforts not only support Year 5 students but also strengthen our school community. We commend our Year 8 leaders and look forward to the continued positive impact of the program.
