St Luke’s was abuzz this morning as 2019 Year 7 students arrived in a range of different uniforms from schools all over Western Sydney for the Year 7 Orientation Day.
There was an element of trepidation and also excitement as next year’s Year 7 cohort, including current St Luke’s Year 6 students, gathered together in the theatrette to hear about their day ahead.
After a welcome from Mr Miller and hearing from current Year 7 students, our Year 6 students and future students were divided into five teams and went off to enjoy different activities around the College.
They experienced an art lesson with Mrs Pettenon, STEM with Mrs Rainima, Coding with Miss Miano, Maths Problem Solving with Mrs Aggarwal and Team Building with Mrs Atkins. At the end of the day, the entire group came back together to finish off the afternoon playing sport with Mrs Paz.
It was a fun-filled, jam-packed day, giving all of the attendees an opportunity to get a taste of life at St Luke’s. We are really looking forward to Day 1 next year, when our Year 7 students arrive at the College all in the St Luke’s uniform!

Big shoutout to Cassandra and Mehwish in Year 12 for organising a 10 week Model United Nations (MUN) program, running every Tuesday after school in Term 2! n the first session, students learned more about Model United Nations and formed teams who were then assigned a country to represent. The topic for Term 2 is: "Protecting Human Rights Amid Rising Global Inequalities" (aligned with Sustainable Development Goal 16) Each week, students will represent their countries, undertake research , draft position statements, and practise diplomacy and negotiation. In Week 10, they’ll take part in a full MUN debate — simulating a real UN session.

Our very first Athletics Carnival was a vibrant celebration of school spirit, determination, and teamwork! Students from Arrunga and our Secondary years showcased their skills across a range of track and field events, as well as some throwback games like captain ball and tug of war — all competing for valuable house points. They cheered each other on with enthusiasm and pride, and our house colours lit up the day with friendly competition bringing out the best in everyone. Congratulations to our House Leaders for their leadership, and of course, to all of our participants for their incredible efforts. A massive thank you to Mrs Paz for organising this fantastic event, and to Mr Wellington, along with our dedicated staff and volunteers, for helping make the day run smoothly. We’re excited to see our primary years shine in their Athletics Carnivals over the coming weeks — stay tuned for the final results!

This week, we welcomed Simon Carroll from Global School Partners, who introduced us to our new partner school, St Gavin’s Academy in Kisii County, Kenya. With around 150 students, St Gavin’s is dedicated to improving access to quality education. A group of St Luke’s students has volunteered to look after this partnership and it will be a student led initiative. Over the next few months, they’ll raise awareness at assemblies, fundraise for resources, organise a letter-writing program with younger students, and find creative ways to connect with St Gavin’s. Global School Partners believes in the power of education to break the cycle of poverty and that every small effort counts. Through this partnership, our students will connect, collaborate, and grow, expanding their global awareness while developing a deeper understanding of the world around them.
